高考书面表达，即高考作文，其命题目的是考查考生的英语语言知识的运用能力，要求考生在20分钟左右的时间内，用所学的基础知识写出100字左右的正确表达段落。通常在短短的时间内，应完成下面六个步骤。以下列材料为例：
假如你是李晓华，住在江城。你的加拿大笔友Bob来信谈到了他所居住的城市，并希望了解一些有关你家乡江城的情况。请你用英语写一封回信。回信须包括下表中的内容。
自然情况 ﹛1﹜位于长江边；﹛2﹜风景优美；
﹛3﹜适合居住；
成就 ﹛4﹜经济发展迅速；﹛5﹜新建了不少工厂、住房、道路等。
存在问题 ﹛6﹜水，空气污染；﹛7﹜交通拥挤。
对江城发展的看法 ﹛8﹜（内容由学生自己拟定）
注意：
1、回信中不能使用“江城”以外的地名。
2、词数：100字左右。信的开头与结尾已为你写好，不计入总词数。

Step(步骤)1、审题
在这个步骤中，考生需通读试题的每一字，观察所给的每一幅图，从而明确作文的中心思想，判断作文的类型、特点，了解作文的重点内容，力求写作切中题意。通过对材料的分析，得出这篇写作是以书信的形式向朋友叙述（介绍）江城的自然情况及发展情况，并对发展过程中产生的副面影响表示担忧；从而对于江城如何在发展中避免问题发表个人看法。
Step2、圈要点
重读试题，在原题的汉语提纲成图表上圈画要点，即给分点；若提供的是图画，也可在每幅图旁用简单的词语标示出它所表达的要点。这样做，可防止漏写要点。圈本材料的要点，共圈出八个要点。（如材料上所示）
Step3、注短语
在圈画出的要点旁边批注相应的英语表达法，为全文的一气呵成先扫清障碍。本材料要点：
(1). on the bank of the Changjiang River.
(2). a beautiful city.
(3). be fit for people to live in.
(4). economy develops rapidly.
(5). build many new factories rapidly, houses and roads and so on..
(6). cause water and air pollution.
(7). heavy traffic.
(8). (发挥) develop economy in the right way-------
Step4、写含要点的句子
在这个过程中，注意两方面的问题，即定的基调：（1）、时态、语态。确定全文主要时态及与其它时态交替使用的接口，还要注意是否需用被动语态。（2）、人称，口吻。
通过分析思考，本材料既然是叙述现在的情况，基本的时态就应是一般现在时。用第三人称it.
句示：
（1）The city lies /stands on the bank of the Changjiang River.
(2) It is a beautiful place.
(3) It is fit for people to live in.
(4) Its economy develops rapidly.
(5) Ｍany new factories , houses and roads and so on have been built.
(6) Rapid development causes water and air pollution.
(7) There is often heavy traffic in rush hours.
(8) Jiangcheng should develop its economy in the right way .the number of cars and the growth of population should be controlled. Some factories should be closed.
Step5、写全文
加上相应的关联词语，确定好两个基本基调，（1）顺序，段落。（2）开头，结尾。下笔前考虑题目中所提供的情景素材应该以怎样的顺序来组织，是按时间顺序，还是空间顺序，是否用倒叙，是否需分段。开头力求开门见山，结尾力求简结明了。

It` s very kind of you write to me and let me know about your beautiful city .now I`d like to tell you something about my hometown Jiangcheng.
The city stands on the bank of the Changjiang River. it is a beautiful place for people to live in. its economy has been developing rapidly in the past ten years. New factories, houses and roads have been built. Ｍore schools and hospitals are available for its people .however, there are still some problems, such as water and air pollution, and heavy traffic in rush hours.
In my opinion, Jiangcheng should develop its economy scientifically I would also think that the growth of its population should be brought under control so that we` ll have a better hometown in future.

Step6、改病错，润色
通读全文，有错即改。在正确表达的基础上，运用一些高级词汇，高级句型，如强调句，倒装句，省略句成一些特殊结构，如分词短语，with 的复合结构等来增加文章的“亮点”。
