1．more than + 名词 “不仅仅是；不只是”（不算是比较结构），如：
Bamboo is used for more than building.
My trip to Beijing was more than sightseeing.
more than + 形容词 “特别；非常；很” （不算是比较结构），如：
He is more than happy about it.
more than + 数词 “多于；大于；超过；不止；在……以上”（强调多），如：
The factory turns out more than one hundred cars daily.
more …than… “与其说……不如说……” （不算是比较结构），如：
He is more big than strong.
She is more diligent than wise.
The book seems to be more a dictionary than a grammar.
2．not more than (at the most) “最多；至多；不超过；不多于”（陈述事实!），如：
I have not more than ten dollars left in my pocket.
There are not more than five tickets left.
not more …than… (not so / as…as…) “比不上；不及；不比……更”，如：
She is not more diligent than you.
The new edition is not more expensive than the old edition.
He has not more books than I.
3．no more than (only或not any more than) “只有；仅仅；不过”（强调少！！），如：
He has no more than ten dollars in his pocket.
There are no more than five tickets left.
no more …than… (neither…nor…) “和……一样不”（两方面都否定！），如：
She is no more diligent than you.
This story is no more than interesting than that one.
4．less than “较少；较小；更少；更小”，如：
The journey took less than an hour, about 45 minutes, I think.
I earn less money than a postman.
He studies English less hard than before.
5．not less than “不少于；不下于；至少（也许不止）”（陈述事实，客观报道），如：
There were not less than 1,000 people at the meeting.
The man was not less than fifty. (这人至少有五十岁。)
not less… than… “不比……差”，如：
She is not less clever than her sister. (她聪明程度至少不比她妹妹差。)
This tool is not less useful than that one.
6．no less than “竟有；多达；有……之多；至少有……那样多”（强调多，意义积极），如： There are no less than 80 women at the meeting.
The man was no less than fifty. (这人竟有五十岁了。)
He paid no less than fifty pounds for the bike.
no less… than… “不次于；不亚于；和……一样”，如：
She is no less clever than her sister. (她和她妹妹一样聪明。)
He is no less active than he used to be.
△ no less… than “正是；就是；不外……”，如：
She is no less a person than the spy.
7．at least (≥) “至少有”（强调多），如： It requires at least two weeks.
8．at most (≤) “至多有；不超过”（强调少），如：
The railway will be completed in six months at (the) most.
It is only half a mile at most.
9．用比较级表示最高级：
She is the tallest in the class. 可用以下几个句子转换：
① She is taller than any other student in the class.
② She is taller than any of the other students in the class.
③ She is taller than all the other students in the class.
④ She is taller than anyone else in the class.
⑤ No one is taller than she (her) in the class.
