1. arrive

I'll arrive in Beijing on Sunday, the seventh of April. (P13)

Can you arrive in Nanjing before March 8?

I'll arrive at the bus stop at nine o'clock.

Call me when you reach Shanghai.

I got to the city yesterday afternoon.

注意:当这两个动词后面跟here, there, home等地点副词时,必须省略介词to, in或at。例如:

When did you get/arrive home?

2. afraid

I'm afraid Neil is still at school. (P15)

I'm afraid I can't go to your party.

[相关链接] be afraid of (doing)sth.或be afraid to do sth.

She is afraid of dogs.

Neil is afraid to walk at night.
