can属于情态动词，情态动词还有如should，may，must...等等，后面必须加动词原形。can的否定形式cannot也一样，后面必须动词原型。
not的话并不是只有动词原形，还可以加名词，如：I am not a student. （我不是一个学生）可以加现在分词，如：You are not telling the truth.（你并没有讲真相）你说的动词原型的'情况：You had better not eat it. （你最好别吃这个了）也可以加不定式（当然了，不定式to do也是动词原型的一种），如：He decided not to go to school. （他决定不去上学了）
