My grade school days are the most wonderful time I have ever had. In those days I always wanted as eagerly to learn as a dog prowls about in search of food. The teachers taught me not only the three Rs but also the way to observe the world surrounding us. They laid more stress on observation than on memorization. Thus we had much time to talk over and trade our learning experiences. What excited me most during my grade school days, however, was to be out collecting specimens of the butterfly. Autumn is my favorite season of the year. It’s a time of change and transition, as the leaves on the trees begin to turn from green to a beautiful array of oranges, yellows, and reds. The air becomes crisp and cool, making it the perfect weather for taking long walks and enjoying the scenery. One of my favorite things to do in the autumn is to go apple picking. I love visiting the local orchards and picking fresh, juicy apples to take home and bake into pies or crisps. The smell of freshly baked apple desserts is a scent that is synonymous with autumn for me. Another reason I love autumn is the festivals and holidays that it brings. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and the autumn season is the perfect time to enjoy all of the spooky decorations and fun costumes. Thanksgiving is also a big part of the autumn season and it’s a time to come together with friends and family to give thanks for all of the blessings in our lives. Overall, autumn is a season that is filled with warmth, comfort, and joy. It’s a time to slow down and appreciate the simple things in life, like the changing colors of the leaves and the cool breeze in the air. I look forward to autumn every year and all of the wonderful memories that it brings.

One day,when Aesop was taking a walk in the country,a traveler stopped him and said,"Kind sir,can you tell me how soon I can get to town?"
"Go."Aesop answered.
"I know I must go,"said the traveler,"But I want to know how soon I can get to town."
"Go."Aesop shouted to him.
The traveler was very angry."This man must be mad,"he thought.And he walked away.
Suddenly he heard Aesop shouting to him,"You will get to town in two hours."
The traveler was greatly surprised.He turned back and ask-ed,"Why didnt you tell me that before?”
"How could I have told you that before?"answered Aesop,"I didnt know how fast you could walk."

In recent years ninny cities are faced with the problem of heavy traffic. People have to waste more time on their way home or to work and even might be involved in an accident. With the development of industry and population expansion, this problem becomes more and more serious.
One solution is to lay down more roads. The solution has many advantages. For example, it can efficiently decrease the number of buses and trucks in many main streets. But it will take up so much land that crowded cities become more crowded. Another solu tion is to open up more bus lines. If more bus lines should be opened up,the number of bicles and cars in the main streets would be greatly decreased. But the disadvantage of this solution is that many people wouldn’t feel so convenient os they used to.
近年来，许多城市都面临着交通拥挤这个问题。人们在上班或回家的路上不得不浪费许多宝贵的时间，甚至还会出车祸。随着工业的发展和人口的增长，这个问题变得越来越严重。
解决这个问题的一个办法是修建更多的道路。这一方法有许多好处。譬如说，它可以有效地减少许多干线上的汽车和卡车的流量。但是这种方法也会占有许多土地，使本来拥挤的'城市变得更拥挤。另外一种方法是多开辟公共汽车线路，如果这样，干线上的自行车和汽车的数量会大大减少。但这样做的弊病是许多人会觉得不像原来那样方便。
In my opinion, the right solution to the problem is the combination of the two, thatis, to lay down more roads in spacious areas and to open up more bus lines in downtown.
依我看，好的解决办法是二者结合，就是说在宽阔的地区多修路而在闹市区要多开辟公共汽车线路。
