Nowadays we see supermodels on almost every magazine cover and one might wonder what life will be like being one of them. Such assumption may be painful for most of the magazine readers who are already over the age when they can get taller. In response to the ”Getting taller trend”, some goes so far as to pay doctors to cut their legs open and let surgeries do the job to get just two centimeters’ higher.
In spite of all these that are happening, some of my taller friends desire to give up this superiority for they just don’t want to be the center of the crowd, saying that they would kill to be a 4 feet child. Girls, maybe you can’t remember the time when you were younger and you need to jump really hard to catch a glimpse of up-the-table world? But being taller, even the upper world of the refrigerator top is no longer a myth and your mom and dad can’t hide your snacks up there any more! As time goes on, you can easily see on the table the beautiful lavenders or lilies stretching themselves in their own fragrant smell, the shining toaster popping out warm tasty toast, or the little drops of water glittering under bright sunshine after your mom wipes the table. Don’t you just love to see every phase of the moon even when they are not that high up in the sky?
Well, I do. Being a 5 ft 10 myself, I am also taking the advantage of buying a larger outfit at a same price. Also, I get a cleaner view of the blackboard even when sitting far away from it. I run faster, jump higher and can think positively. I am proud to say that I possess the ability to see the upside of almost everything. I guess it is because I am closer to the clear blue sky above our heads.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that the criteria of judging a person are extremely complex.Various as the standards might be, judging a person by apperance is the most unreliable one. As a famous saying goes, it is unwise to judge a person by their appearance. This proverb aims to deliver the message that in order to truly know a person, we need to go beyond their looks and dresses and focus on more profound aspects.
There are several reasons supportive of this statement. Firstly, people are so diverse that some of them are not willing to demonstrate themeselves by their apperance because they may dedicate more time to their work and their hobbies. Moreover, it is too busy for the modern urban people to maintain their appearance. If we judge a person by their appearance when he or she is in a bad state, we might lose a possible good friend or an opportunity. For instance, yesterday the dean of our department, on his way to the teaching building for an emergent meeting with an important investor, fell to the ground and got very dirty. But the new security, taking him for a beggar or a vendor, didn’t allow the dean to enter the building. Finally, the security was fired for his arbitrary judgment.
To conclude, judging a person by their appearance is highly undependable. Therefore, we’d better draw a conclusion about a person through a long period of observations, interactions, and communication.

因此，如果要想拿到托福作文的高分，一定要提升自己的鉴赏能力，换句话说，当欣赏能力不行的时候，作文上25分以上是很难的。
因此，要拿高分，首先要有很强的鉴赏能力，接下来就是将自己的鉴赏能力转化为自己笔下的美文，因此这里就将对于鉴赏能力不同角度，以及如何运用这些鉴赏能力进行一个汇总。
1 避免中式英语：其实我们在写托福作文的时候，第一个最为显著的问题就是如何避免中式英语，其实我们想说出什么是中式英语，有些难，但是我们可以很明确的知道，托福阅读的文章都是非常地道的英语，因此，我们在看托福阅读的时候，一定总是在思考我们自己会怎么写，这是一个非常重要的过程。
2 用词准确：比如说affect与shock有什么区别?affect只是影响，但是没有幅度上的差别。shock相应的就是很剧烈的影响的含义，这就是用词的准确性。再比如and与so有什么差别?
so，表示的是一个因果性很强的连接，要是没有前面的原因，则必定没有后面的so之后的内容的发生。and则是颇有水到渠成之意，由于前面的事情的发生，因此自然而然的，就出现了and后面的事情。这都是用词的准确性。OK，那么最后考你一下standard与 quality有什么差别?
3 动词的名词化：这其实是写出地道英语作文的一个不错的小妙招，就是将动词名词化，因此无老师在这里也将其单独列出。比如说 which of the following was responsible for the evaporation of the Mediterranean’s waters?这句话，我们写的时候是不是会将其写成Why did the Mediterranean’s waters evaporate?

As is generally known, the computer can do a wide range of work, including complex computation and analyses. People now also use it as a teaching aid in designing. An infinite variety of software can be put into the computer, which explains why it is so powerful. There is, however, one thing which we should bear in mind: that the computer cannot think but man can. So there need not be any fear that someday the computer will control us and all we should expect is try our best to bring it to perfection. A computer age is not a pipe dream and there will come a day when most of our needs can be met by this wonderful machine.

Each nation has many good people who help to take care of others. For example, some high
school and college students in the United States often spend many hours as volunteers in hospitals, orphanages or homes for the aged. They paint,clean up,or repair houses, do their shopping and mow their lawns. For boys who no longer have fathers there is an organization called Big Brothers. College students and other men take these boys to basketball games or on fishing trips and help them to get to know things that boys usually learn from their fathers.
Some cities have a number of clubs where boys and girls can go to play games or learn crafts. Some of these clubs show movies or organize short trips to the mountains,the beaches,museums or other places of interest. Most of these clubs use a lot of high school and college students as volunteers because they are young enough to remember the problems of younger boys and girls.
Volunteers believe that some of the happiest people in the world are those who help to bring happiness to others.
